Reminder that all member campsites must be cleaned by the 3rd Sunday in June. New rules were approved last season and it will be important for you to understand the changes as you prepare your campsite. Read the highlights below or click here for complete rules.

New Site Clean-up Rule Definition!
The Site Clean-up Area for your campsite is now defined as corner to corner, rear pins to road. This means all pine needles, dead brush and tree limbs must be removed from the entire site, not just around the living area.

  • All dead and beetle-infested trees must be removed.
  • Trees with a diameter of less than 8” at breast height (ABH) may be removed by members without management or Board approval.
  • Trees must be trimmed of all dead branches to a height of fifteen feet (15’) and all live limbs to a height of ten feet (10’).
  • For trees smaller than 15 feet in height, remove the lower branches to 1/3 of the tree (i.e. If tree is 12 feet tall remove all branches up to 4 feet).
  • Excessively dense tree cover should be thinned (generally trees under 10 inches in diameter that are growing without proper spacing from one another or growing under the canopy of larger trees)
  • Firewood must be managed and stacked neatly 30 feet away from all structures but can be closer if firewood is securely covered by a fire-resistant cover (only neutral color).
  • To discourage beetle infestations, firewood will not be stacked between trees, and dead or rotting wood must be removed.

What is “Site Mosaic?”

This might be a new term for many of us at TTT, yet it is common vernacular among defensible space experts. Consider your campsite as a “mosaic” design to determine how much manzanita, brush, small trees and branches to remove to create your safe space. Within 10-20 feet of your RV or shed follow these guidelines to create your mosaic:
  • Remove brush, manzanita or other scrub under the canopy of a tree. Canopy is the entire “umbrella” of the tree.
  • Brush and manzanita can be left in 5 feet clumps with plenty of spacing between the groupings.
  • Do you have branches hanging over the roof of your RV or shed? All limbs must be removed up to 10 feet above the RV and/or shed.
  • Take another look at your RV and shed and remove all brush, manzanita or wood fuel within 5 feet.
